Americans Criticised Again
Wherever Titanic is publicised, RMS Titanic Inc., and their parent company, Premier Exhibitions Inc. Always find their name in print. This time it is for vandalism of the famous wreck. On the picture to the right is a picture of the ship’s steering motor, taken by Dr. Robert Ballard and his group. Below is the newspaper story of when Mr. Douglas Faulkner-Woolley auctioned this particular item at a London auction house, before Dr. Ballard was able to take his pictures. As legal owner of the wreck, Mr. Faulkner-Woolley was able to take this step.
Should the above statement be a little confusing, the point is that this particular piece of equipment has been seen on display at the 02 Exhibition Centre in London. The exhibition was held by Premier Exhibitions Inc. In speaking to a representative of the company, a claim was made that everything was obtained legally. Apart from the fact that there is extensive damage caused by mechanical equipment and the metal at the base bent, the illegally obtained salvage rights claimed by RMS Titanic Inc. have no mention of removing any items from the ship itself.
RMS Titanic Inc. And Premier Exhibitions Inc., have failed to respond to any attempts by Mr. Faulkner-Woolley to communicate by media, legal or private levels. Questions have also been asked why the company have also displayed and sold merchandise they do not have permission to reproduce.
